Chuck D Is Receiving the Social Justice Honours Award at CMW

Canadian Music Week will honor Chuck D of Public Enemy with this year’s Social Justice Honours Award for the conference’s 40th Anniversary event.

Chuck D will receive the Social Justice Honours Award for using every opportunity throughout his career to speak his mind and stand up for what is right,” says Canadian Music Week president Neill Dixon. “Chuck D is a champion and an innovator with the unique ability to identify new platforms to get his message across. We look forward to hosting this living legend as part of our 40th Anniversary conference.

In an Interview with Yahoo News, Chuck D was asked what the award means to him. He responded, “I totally disregard getting any award my way. Obviously, the opportunity to speak in a keynote type of way at Canadian Music Week, that’s more important to me. Awards to me are a waste of time. But I definitely understand that it’s more promotional.”
